A neighbourhood bakery on Lake Constance — rooted in Arbon, guided by craft, and open to everyone who loves good bread.
Seebrot opened in 1987 when Lukas Meier converted a former grocer's shop on Hauptstrasse into a small bakery. The name — Seebrot, bread by the lake — reflects Arbon's place on the shores of Lake Constance and the Meier family's promise: honest food for everyday life.
Today Lukas works alongside his daughter Claudia Brunner and a team of six bakers and pastry chefs. The ovens are newer, but the approach is unchanged: mix, rest, shape, bake, serve.
We source flour from Swiss mills, butter from Thurgau dairies, and fruit from orchards we know by name. We keep batches small, waste little, and treat every customer as a neighbour.
Seebrot is not a trend-driven shop. We bake what Arbon eats — Züpfe for Sunday, rye for the week, a tart when someone celebrates. That steadiness is our pride.
